All Your Questions
General Stage Inspection FAQ
Most venues require annual inspections for insurance and regulatory
compliance. High-use venues (500+ events per year) should consider
bi-annual inspections. Per-event inspections are required for
championship events, NCAA tournaments, and touring productions.
Post-incident inspections are mandatory after any equipment failure,
storm damage, or seismic event.
Our comprehensive inspections cover: overhead rigging and load
calculations, lighting trusses and mounting hardware, stage flooring
integrity, seating systems and safety features, electrical connections
and fire safety systems, and emergency egress routes. Each inspection
includes visual assessment, physical testing, load certification, and
detailed documentation with photographs.
Inspection duration varies based on venue size and complexity. A small
theater typically takes 4-6 hours, while large arenas may require 1-3
days. We'll provide a time estimate when you schedule based on your
specific venue layout and equipment inventory.
If deficiencies are found, you'll receive a detailed report with
photographs and specific repair requirements. We often perform repairs
on-site during the same visit. Once repairs are completed, we conduct
a complimentary follow-up inspection. We work with you to achieve
compliance as quickly as possible.
Per-event inspections are required for championship events, NCAA
tournaments, professional sports events, and most touring productions.
Even for single events, if your insurance or local regulations require
certification, we'll provide a thorough inspection and same-day
documentation.
Inspection costs vary based on venue size and complexity. We offer
free estimates so you know the cost upfront. Contact us for a

Safety Requirements
Stage Curtains FAQ
Yes. Stage curtains, drapes, and masking are critical safety
components that require inspection. Our comprehensive stage safety
inspections include evaluation of all curtain systems, including main
curtains, side curtains, backdrops, and traveler curtains. We check
fire retardancy, attachment points, track systems, and weight
distribution.
All stage curtains must meet NFPA 701 fire retardancy standards.
Curtains must have current flame retardant certification, and
treatment must be re-applied periodically based on manufacturer
specifications and local fire codes. We verify documentation and may
conduct flame testing as part of our inspection process.
We inspect curtain track systems, batten attachments, counterweight
systems, and motor-driven systems. This includes checking for proper
safety cables, verifying load calculations for each batten, examining
sheaves and clevis connections, and testing motor brake systems for
fly systems. All attachment hardware is inspected for wear, corrosion,
and proper installation.
Common violations include: expired fire retardant certification,
missing safety cables on fly lines, overloaded battens, damaged track
or carrier systems, improper counterweight installation, worn rope and
hardware, and inadequate clearance from heat sources. Our inspections
identify all safety issues and provide remediation guidance.
Yes. We inspect motor-driven fly systems, motorized track systems, and
automated drape systems. This includes testing motor function and
brake systems, verifying limit switches and safety interlocks,
checking belt or chain tension, inspecting electrical connections, and
reviewing control systems and emergency stop functions.
Touring productions with their own curtain sets should have those
inspected before each tour. Additionally, venues hosting touring shows
should verify that any house curtains meet current safety standards.
We provide rapid inspection services for touring companies and can
perform venue inspections on tight schedules, including overnight
service.
